Drawing South

No sooner do I post something about the power of repetition, than I stumble upon something really unusual. Nicholas Hutcheson had the great fortune to be an artist in residence for 7 weeks on a ship journeying to the Antarctic. He was there as part of Australian Antarctic Division’s Arts Fellowship for 2007/8. His job during the trip was simple: draw. How fantastic.

In addition to a large number of traditional drawings and sketches, he also made a series of short experiments of time-lapse drawings of the Antarctic Landscape. These are worth a look and can be found at:
