keep comparing the 2 and can't decide which one I like best. What I found striking was that this face, although perhaps meant to look meanacing, brought to live a character in the book I am reading-The Book Thief-it is how I imagine the foster father-a mysterious, quiet, caring man with inner strngth and loyalty. Interested to know why you called it Ephemera?
Thanks for your comments. Interesting to hear that these images put a face to a fictional character for you. I like that idea!
The reason for calling them 'ephemera' has to to with the small marks that coalesce to become the image. The marks come together to form the image the way that droplets of vapour create a cloud. The cloud is clearly there and is a thing that we can see and describe, but it is transient and in flux all the time. One minute it is there, the next it is gone. Our identities are like clouds of vapour; not fixed, but constantly shifting and adjusting full of coming and going - ephemeral.
thanks Steve. This made me re-look and this puts a different propecive on the image. I couldn't work out why you had called it this but I understand now where you are coming from and find this explanation very thought provoking as it makes me reflect on how my image and those around me have adjusted in recent years-thanks
