Another series of small-scale drawings, this time based on the dramatic landscapes of Iceland from a family trip in July. A relatively young place geologically, the views across Iceland are stunning and my aim in this series was to try to convey the sense that the mountains and rocks seem to be alive with energy and movement.
Ink and wash mainly, some with watercolour and pencil in places.
This is a drawing made in 2011 of my drawing desk. I've had this table since the late 80s and it has travelled with me ever since, including the move from the USA to the UK in 1995.
Done in one, quick sitting with no preparatory sketching, this is a favourite of mine, capturing a corner of the world where I like to be.
